The Areopagus String Quartet is a group of exceptionally skilled musicians based in Cincinnati. Each member boasts years of training and expertise, bringing a wealth of experience to any wedding or event. The group’s dedication to providing professional music is evident through the lasting impression left by its performances. The quartet was founded by Luke Coan and Paul Yoshida, two talented individuals who have honed their craft over decades.

Luke Coan - Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Luke Coan earned his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.  His teachers include Won-Bin Yim, Ioana Missits, Peter Otto, and Mark Dumm of the Cleveland Orchestra.  An active chamber musician, he has coached with the Ariel String Quartet and the Cavani String Quartet.

Mr. Coan has performed with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Queen City Chamber Opera, Owensboro Symphony, Middletown Symphony, Lima Symphony, and others.  Summer festival performances have taken him to Spoleto Italy, Connecticut, and Vermont.

Paul Yoshida - Since attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, completing a BA and MM in violin performance, Paul has been active in the greater Cincinnati area performing in various local orchestras and chamber groups.  He also maintains a full private studio, teaching students of all ages on most weekdays.  Paul is a classically trained violinist.  However, he enjoys performing a wide variety of genres, including rock, blues, jazz, and bluegrass.  He lives in Cincinnati with his wife and two kids.
